Mentok Kangri

Overview

(A mandatory of at least 48 hours acclimatisation/rest at Leh is needed)

Mentok Kangri I & II, located in Eastern Ladakh, is a difficult 6,200-meters summit. It’s located on the Rupshu plateau, where the well-known Changpa nomads live. Starting in Tsokhar Lake, the walk continues over four high passes before culminating in the summit of Mentok Kangri II, a breathtaking peak that looks out over the massive Tso-moriri lake. Depending on the season, the ascent may include scrambling up snowy slopes or navigating across boulder fields. Even more so on summit day, the panorama of Chamsher and Lungser Kangri over Tso Morriri is nothing short of breathtaking.
