Overview

This trek starts from Tsokar lake which is 153 km away from Leh on the way to Leh- Manali highway. This trek gives you the opportunity to interact with Changpa, opportunity to explore Tsomoriri Lake and also more chance to witness wild animals like Kyang (wild ass) and rare wild birds like Black Neck Crain. There are around eight passes in this trek and the highest pass is Kyamayuru La (5400m

Itinerary

Day 1
Leh to Tsokar/Pangunagu

First day, after a brief checking of your gears. You will checkout from your hotel and will be driven to a small beautiful village of Thukje from where you will start your trek. You will be briefed about the trek at the campsite of the village. O/N at Camp

Day 2
Pangunagu - Nuruchan (05 hrs)

Time: 5-6 hrs
Distance: 17.8 km
Elevation gain / loss: +173m / -145m

Today it’s an easy walk along the Lake. Walk towards east through the motorable road and take the same direction from the end of Stupa along the road. After sometimes you can have view of agriculture field. And the Campsite is just next to the field near the river. O/N at Camp

Day 3
Nuruchan - Rachungkaru (5 hrs approx.) Via Horlam la .

Time: 7-8 hrs
Distance: 19.3 km
Elevation gain / loss: +855m / -339m

An easy ascends to the pass takes around 1 hours 30 minutes. The trail turns towards northeast just after the pass through a valley. The campsite is across the river at the base of the pass. O/N at Camp

Day 4
Rachungkaru to Gyamalhoma (7 hrs approx.)

Time: 3 hrs
Distance: 5.7 km
Elevation gain / loss: +213m / -251m

Start climbing the Kyamayur-la (5125m) which takes around 2 hrs at average speed. The last climb is the tiring one. After the pass the trail leads towards north-east and at the end of the valley trail starts ascending another small pass called Gyama La (5100m) from where you can have views of Peaks. Walk down towards north-east and cross the small river and the Gyama lhoma is reached after another river crossing which is also a base for Krzok pass. O/N at Camp

Day 5
Gyamalhoma - Korzok (Tsomoriri Lake)

Time: 5-6 hrs
Distance: 16.3 km
Elevation gain / loss: +300m / -905m

Start an easy ascent to the Korzok pass along the stream. It takes around 2 hrs to reach the top from where you can have a wonderful view of the Lake.
Its all descend till Korzok village. You can also camp at Korzok Phu where nomad camps are located, lees than an one-hour before the lake if you have extra days. O/N at Camp

After reaching you can stay more days explore the nomads land or we can also plan you an expedition both easy and technical climb Mentok Kangri 1 and Mentok Kangri 2
